The Battle for Justice in Gujarat
‘Insaniyat - Coalition Against Communalism’ Meeting

Insaaniyat (the coalition that was formed at the YWCA meeting on May 25, 2002 )

Speakers:

Mihir Desai (lawyer and human rights activist) who is representing Zahira Sheikh in the Best Bakery Case will report on the situation in this case, and also give an update on the other cases concerning the Gujarat-genocide that are coming up before the Supreme Court.

Veena Gowda (advocate with Majlis, Mumbai) who is representing the victims at the Shah-Nanavati Commision of inquiry, will provide an update on the Commission hearings.

M.H.Jowher (Convenor of the Society for the Promotion of Rational Thinking, Ahmedabad) who has been working towards providing relief and rehabilitation to all the victims, and who's organisation has initiated a series of programmes for reconciliation and rebuilding harmony in Gujarat, will give an on-the-ground report on the situation in Gujarati society today.
